HPV vaccine for men at Private STD Testing Clinic

Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is the most common Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) in Western Europe and also the USA, affecting 90% of individuals at some time of their lives.
There are many different types of HPV, the main ones being HPV types 6, 11, 16 and 18. These tend to be transient - that is, their presence on the skin will vary from time to time and also type to type.
HPV types 6 and 11 are the ones which tend to cause the appearance of ugly external warts which cause a great deal of distress but are harmless.
HPV types 16 and 18 are the versions that are mainly responsible for cervical, penile and anal cancers.
Freedomhealth is able to use sophisticated PCR HPV testing to identify the presence or otherwise of these viruses on the body and genitals.
We are also able to adminster the vaccine Gardasil to prevent infection/re-infection with HPV. A booster is very likely to be necessary.
For those people who have persisting infection with HPV Freedomhealth can perform cervical and anal PAP smears to identify abnormal cells.

Approximately 0.2/100,000 of the general population develop anal cancers whereas around 35/100,000 gay males develop anal cancers. In HIV Positive males this is markedly increased to up to 100/100,000.

Freedomhealth believes that all gay males, especially HIV positive males should have both HPV and Anal cancer screening. Where we do discover abnormalities both NHS and private treatment options are available.
