Default Dietary supplements

Dear doctors,
I am not sure this thread would be handled and replied as I may not know how best to put my case. However, I will go ahead and explain myself the best way I can. I am on amlodipine tabs to control high blood pressure. The medication is working well for me. However, I experience some slight sexual problems such as loss of libido and difficulty holding on to errection for reasonable length of time. I am not comfortable narrating this problem to my GP lest this is noted in my record. So, I recently purchased a herbal medicine indicated to help boost libido and improve overall sex pleasure. The name of the herbal, non-pharmaceutical tabs is vitavigour. Please kindly let me know if this supplement would interact with amlodipine, and how.

Thanks
Obla Hussein

Hello, there!
Your problem could be a side effect of amlodipine, and it might be worth changing to a different medication for your blood pressure, without this side effect. It might be worth discussing it with your doctor.
Regarding taking this herbal remedy, as far as I know, it would not interact with amlodipine and would be safe to be taken both together. However I am not sure that it will help you in any way with your erections and libido, as there is no scientific evidence that it works.
Best wishes,
Jose
