Hey docs, I have some questions about a stomach bug. Really just for a piece of mind! - I have been ill for about 2 days now and i am sure its a stomach bug and the symptoms seem to be improving and i have taken some tablets for the diarrhea and they have stopped it! - I was wondering if it is a stomach bug would i have the following symptoms: 1) diarrhea 2) vomiting 3) nausea 4) temperature 5) Pains just below my rib cage. Does this sound like a stomach bug to you? As i said i have took tablets for the diarrhea but my stomach keeps on making rumbling noises as it did before i needed to run to the loo! - I'm also worried about if this could be a sign of my immune system packing up? - I have not been confirmed with HIV and my exposure was a blow job performed on me about 7 months ago and also, how long should it take for a stomach bug to clear up? - It's been extremely uncomfortable! - Yours

Hi, there!
All those symptoms are typical of infectious gastroenteritis caused by a stomach/intestinal bug, possibly casued by something you have eaten. They would certainly have nothing to do with HIV or HIV seroconversion. And in any case, you did not put yourself at risk whatsoever, as there is no risk of HIV infection by receiving a blow job. Symptoms will possibly settle within 5 to 7 days. If they continue, you will probably need to provide a stoiol sample and might need some antibiotics.
