Hello, Paul!
Recommended immunisations would include Diphteria/Tetanus/Polio (if you haven't had them in the last 10 years), Hepatitis A and Typhoid (if you haven't had them in the last three years). Also you might need yellow fever, but this can only be given in official clinics, as you would need a special certificate and we do not do that. Brazil is a country with a high risk of yellow fever infection. Vaccination is recommended for travellers to endemic areas, including rural areas in the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Goiás, Maranhao, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rôndonia, Roraima and Tocantins.
Regarding malaria, there is high risk in the provinces of Amapá (in particular in the North and in the valley of Jari), Rondônia (in particular the northern and northwestern regions) and Roraima (in particular the western parts). Furthermore there is a transmission risk existing in most forested areas below 900m within the nine states of "Legal Amazonia" region: Acre (in particular in the jungle areas of mining lumbering and agriculture settlements of Acre, Abuna, Tarauacá and along the highway between Tarauacá and Cruzeiro), Maranhao (in particular in the West), Mato Grosso (in particular in the North), Pará (excluding Belém City) and Tocantins (in particular the northern and central parts of Araguaia region and certain areas in the South). Transmission risk also occurs on the periphery of the cities of Porto Velho, Boa Vista, Macapá, Manaus, Santarém, Rio Branco and Maraba. If you travel to any of these areas you would need to get malaria prophylaxis medication, and we could give you a prescription for this.
The cost of these vaccinations would be £45 for Diphteria/Tetanus/Polio, and £75 for Hepatitis A/Typhoid.
Best wishes,
Jose
