Default Accuracy of Test Results

Hello Doctor needing a second opinion,

I am going through the worst 12 weeks of my life. I had unprotected insertive sex with a transexual prostitute 9 weeks ago in Australia. From that time I have been extremely anxious and worried about HIV. In the first week I tested Positive for Chlamidia so am extremely worried about my HIV result in week 12. As far as symptoms go I had what my doctor described as a non specific rash effect my sholders and back between weeks 3-6, felt really tired with a stiff neck for the first six weeks and have had a burning and dry sensation in my mouth for the past 9 weeks. Im hoping alot of this has had to do with the anxiety. I havent had a high tempreture or sore throat thank God.

The positives during this time period is that I have had negative duo tests at 4 weeks (27 days) and 6 weeks ( 45 days). My question is can I feel comfortable that I dont have Hiv by these two tests or is it still very possible that there will be a sting in the tail when I test at 12 weeks?

Thank you

Hello,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to our forum.
I can assure you that you are absolutley fine; you do not have HIV. Your negative HIV Duo tests are fully conclusive at those time periods, and that is defintiely not going to chnage at 12 weeks. You can rest assured that you are HIV negative. No need to worry about symptoms, which as you say are most likely to be related to the stress and anxiety you have been going through.
Best wishes,
José

Thank you so much Dr, your time is greatly appreciated, this website has given me so much hope over the past couple of weeks, its so good that you dont get the same, "you have to wait the 3 months before you can get an accurate test line regardless of the type of test," which seems to be the easy way out.

Thanks again and have a great day!
