Default advice

hello there! On tuesday i noticed that i had a few small bumps on the tip of my foreskin, they were in the same area there was about 5 of them. They were very small but did leak a bit of clear fluid. I went to my local gum clinic today where the nurse took 2 swabs one for herpes and one for any other infection. I did mention to the nurse that id only tested negative on a blood test for herpes 2 weeks ago and that my only possible exposure was 10 months ago. She said that the blood tests tell you nothing but she didnt think it was herpes and she was 99% sure of that she also said it didnt look like herpes the test was just in case. My questions are:

1) Can i rely on the herpes blood test i had? ( It was an antibody test and my last possible exposure was 10 months ago and it was 2 weeks ago i tested negative. I also had one at 5 weeks that was also negative)

2) Can an infection of the foreskin be caused by something that isnt sexually related? even a bacterial infection?

Thanks for your time hear from you soon

Default advice on foreskin

Hello

Thank you for your post and my apologies for the late response. We have been extremely busy this last few weeks at the main clinic.

You have asked the following:-

1) Can i rely on the herpes blood test i had? ( It was an antibody test and my last possible exposure was 10 months ago and it was 2 weeks ago i tested negative. I also had one at 5 weeks that was also negative)yes, you can - I think the nurse was ill informed - the blood test you have had if it included herpes 1 and 2 will have excluded previous infection.

2) Can an infection of the foreskin be caused by something that isnt sexually related? even a bacterial infection?yes, there are a very large number of possibilities for infection in this area - please don't ask me to list them - there are entire books on this!

very best regards, Sean

one last question i no you cant tell me what it could be without looking but do you think that if it was std related it could of taken me 10 months to show symptoms? Ive had about 4 syphilis tests to all negative! Its little pin sized watery blisters bout 5 together that are now healing a little no pain itch nothing! It was unprotected vaginal sex! Thanks again for your time
