Default Advice please

Hi, I performed oral sex on a girl I met in a bar, I did not have any open sores or cuts in my mouth but there was a spot under my lip that would have come in contact with vaginal fluid. It was not bleeding but could I still contract HIV through the spot?

Hello,
Thank you for your post.
There is no real risk of HIV infection in this case and therefore there is no need to be concerned or get tested.
Best wishes,
José

Thank you Dr Jose, even if the spot was damaged at any point during oral sex would there still be no real risk as if it bled or anything surely this is a direct route in to the bloodstream? I was drunk and therefore cannot be 100% sure. I suffer from quite bad anxiety so this kind of worry takes over my life in a pretty bad way!

It is highly unlikely and extremely difficult to become infected, even under those circumstances. However if you are going to keep worrying so much, it might be worth that you get tested. Just for your peace of mind. The result will be negative.
Best wishes,
José

Ok thanks, that is reassuring. I don't even know if there was any damage to it, no visible blood the next morning but my over enthusiastic brain keeps telling me there could have been. Thanks for your help, I assume this is a similar risk to fingering with a cut, i.e. not a real risk. Keep up the good work you guys are great

Final question if you wouldn't mind doctor. Is there any risk of touching vaginal fluids and then rubbing your eye, transfer this way? Thanks again

There would only be a risk of STIs like Chlamydia. Conjunctivitis is commonly casued by Chlamydia. No risk of HIV.
Best wishes,
José
