Firstly this is not the first time I have posted on this message board. My last barrage of questions was in a thread called, "incident, need help."
Here is a brief summary of that message:
Involved incident with male-to-female transexual,
Gave unprotected oral sex, and received protected anal sex and unprotected oral sex.. No ejaculation from transexual. I came on myself.
Test History with respect to above incident- 3,5,6 & 11 Week negative duo tests.
Strange ongoing symptoms- chest rash, oral thrush, EBV diagnosed, liver abnormalities.
That was that- now two days ago I had another encounter here in Israel.
I met with a transexual. I gave her unprotected oral for abut 5 seconds, realized she should be wearing a condom I pulled back and made her put one on. We then kissed, I gave her oral for a while, she then gave me UNPROTECTED oral, to the point where I came in her mouth. She never came.
My questions are this:
1) With respect to the first incident- I read on a link this site provided somewhere that the DUO test is accurate at only 88% if the patient is already compromised with something else such as EBV. I had EBV. Does this negate my test accuracy?
2) With respect to first incident- based on your answer to q.1, are my tests fully conclusive for HIV?
3) With respect to second incident? I am aware my risk is low, receiving and giving oral sex, though for the most part the giving was protected. Would you advise further testing?
4) Again, my recent oral episode- I must say that I do not have the best oral hygiene. I constantly have a white tongue and ulcers, and also a geographic tongue. Poor oral hygiene can increase likelehood of transmission, so my question is really what do you think re: risk, tests etc....?

I had EBV. Does this negate my test accuracy? I don't recognise the concept or the link. It will not affect the large number of tests you had. You were HIV negative at that point.

You know I always advise STD and HIV testing for people with multiple partners - especially sex workers - so the answer to you and others in your circumstance is yes, for all STD's although I do not think this represents an HIV risk

Thanks for the swift reply. Just finally- assuming that first incident is old news- let's forget that:
What are the chances of me contracting HIV from this episode of mutual oral sex?
What other stds should I be concerned with and when will possible symptoms develop?

I am unconcerned about the risk of HIV to you - even of course assuming that she did have HIV. Oral transmission represents a miniscule risk
What other stds should I be concerned with and when will possible symptoms develop? You are right to be more concerned about these and I would advise taking a look at our STD testing page. I would be most concerned about chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis. These are easily screened for and easily treated.
Hi, Im back again, I had the multiplex test at 7 days now I'm worried that I didn't wait long enough, as I looked on Tdls website and it said it should be after 10 days. After spending that much money I'm now paranoid. Do I need to go again?
The test you have had will reliably identify newly infected HIV positive individuals from 7 days - actually probably from 5.
You do not have HIV. You have fear of HIV.
I do not think that you need to test again. However, it is our practice within the clinic to suggest that those people having the HIV 1 and 2 RNA PCR should test again at 28 days with the DUO. We've not had any people change in terms of results but it does add in another comfort blanket in terms of certainty.
