Default Another worried person!

Good morning doctors,

Last Saturday (3rd sep) I had a sexual encounter with a girl I met in a local bar, I was very drunk and did not have full sex with her however the following did take place;

Received unprotected oral sex for a couple of minutes
Gave her oral sex for a longer period
Fingered her multiple times

Now as far as I am aware there was no blood on my penis nor did I have open sores or cuts in my mouth. I did have a reasonable sized spot under my chin that would have come in to contact with vaginal fluids but did not notice any dried blood on it the next day. I also had several small scratches on my fingers from nail biting which would have been inside her.

I would like to know my risk of contracting HIV from this incident? I have been worried sick since that night. I would also like to add that on Thursday evening (5 days after) I was bitten by a mosquito or similar and the bite has swollen and a rash appeared around it. I read online that people with HIV are more prone to these reactions as their immune system cannot immunise against bites properly. This has made me even more concerned as it has still not gone down completely. Is this reaction a result of being HIV positive?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give, not in a good place!!

Hello,
Thank you for your post and welcome to our forum.
None of the sexual practices you have engaged with would involve any risk of HIV infection. Receiving oral sex and vaginal fingering do not pose any risk of HIV; performing oral sex can pose a very negligible risk, practically zero, and it is considered more a theoretical risk, rather than a real one. Therefore I do not believe that you need to worry about HIV at all whatsoever. There is no need of testing either.
Your incident with the mosquito has absolutely nothing to do with HIV.
Best wishes,
José

Thank you Dr Jose, your post was very reassuring. My point about the bite was more that the reaction is more akin to someone that is HIV positive and given my recent exposure it made sense. Would the immune system be affected within that 5-6 day period anyway? So in your opinion I do not even need to get tested, was thinking of the 7 day test but this is not necessary (past peace of mind)?

The immune system would never be affected that quickly after the initial infection.
The only justification for testing would be for your reassurance and peace of mind, and not on medical grounds.
Best wishes,
José

Thanks doctor, just re-read my original post and notice i said spot under my chin, i actually meant to say lip. This would have come in to contact with the vaginal fluids far more due to the location. Would this make a difference to your thoughts re HIV? I don't think it became damaged during the act as it appeared to be in tact the next day and I would have noticed dry blood on it. Thanks again

No, that would have not changed things. The virus would not be able to infect through a spot. Best wishes, José
