Hi guys,2 weeks ago I went and got a massage, during it I lightly fingered the girl nothing too deep and only for a few seconds I don't think I had any real cuts on my fingers just the usual bits of skin around the nails that I might have bitten days before,I also got protected oral at the end and I know the condom was 100% ok,about a day or two later I had a mild sore throat that lasted approx 3/4 days no fever or rash or anything like that, and now I have kinda have ache's in some of my joints like the knee and elbow and I'm getting little headaches here and there that only last a few seconds,I've put these symptoms down to abit of anxiety, can you please tell me do I need to worry about hiv or any other STD from this episode?and do I need a test, also can you please explain you answer so it really sinks into my brain and I can stop worrying about this.

P.s I dont know if this has any bearing on the situation, but the girl told me she was from brazil, I myself am Irish and situation happened in Ireland.

Kind regards,
Steve.

Good Morning

You can relax. There is no risk to you of HIV even if the lady herself was HIV positive which obviously we don't know.

The reason is that in Western countries HIV transmission by heterosexual penetrative and unprotected sex is still relatively inefficient. Certainly it can and does occur but relatively poor transfer.

Transfer through intact or even frayed skin around the fingers/ nails etc is not a credible route.

You're feeling not very proud of yourself for what occurred but it does not represent a threat.

Kind regards, Sean

Hello

No - nothing happened - you don't need a test for this specific incident - you will know though that we are keen to encourage everybody to test for STD's and HIV from time to time if they are having different sexual partners.

No comment on the oral sex - it was protected so no risk.

Best regards, Sean

Good Morning

I think I've answered this already:--

"You can relax. There is no risk to you of HIV even if the lady herself was HIV positive which obviously we don't know.

The reason is that in Western countries HIV transmission by heterosexual penetrative and unprotected sex is still relatively inefficient. Certainly it can and does occur but relatively poor transfer.
