Default Did we give it long enough?

Tests were clear but I was prescribed antibiotics due to symptoms and so was my partner. We took them Tuesday at 4pm (4 tablets) then didn't have sex until the following Tuesday 10:00 am. Did we give it long enough?

Full sexual health check by yourselves £300 all in one
All results were negative
Not sure the name of them now. 4 tablets all at once
Urge to go toilet a lot and slight stinging and ache in tesicles

Doctor thinks I have chronic prostatis but I'm trying to rule out std

I wanted to see if me and partner gave it long enough without having sex

Hello,
Your negative test results would have covered all STDs. Because you were having symptoms, you received pre-emptive antibiotic treatment with azithromycin 1g. (4 tablets). As the results were negative, it is possible that you had NSU (non-specific urethritis), which should have cleared with the antibiotics. Leaving it for one week is long enough to clear the infection. Did the symptoms clear after the 4 tablets of antibiotics and before you had sex again? Did the symptoms start only after you had sex again and how long after? It might be a re-infection with NSU as this can be caused by non-specific bacteria, that are usually non-pathogenic. It might be worth having a one week course of doxycycline 100mg twice daily.
Best wishes,
José

The symptoms never seemed to have went away I just cant work out if I have nsu or chronic prostatis. Symptoms seem to be very similar

Urologist says he thinks I have chronic prostatis but I think I might have nsu

Would the antibiotics not have cleared up nsu? Are there no tests that can pick up nsu?

I'm confused and don't know what do?

Hello

The antibiotics were given to tackle a potential NSU. They are insufficient to tackle a prostatitis. Your urologist will have conducted examinations which you will not have had as a routine sexual health screen and will be basing his/her opinion on those conclusions. I think in the absence of any evidence to suggest that you have an STD then the sensible thing is to take your urologist's view and treat appropriately.

very best wishes, Sean
