I am a diabetic and had an unfortunate encounter with a female from Slovakia (who is now living in the UK) whilst on holiday. We gave each other oral sex and there was genital contact but no intercourse. 1 day later I had tingling testicles and it burned slightly to urinate, I also started to have ulcers on cheek lining and a white tongue. As the days went by the tongue got worse but the tingling and ulcers got better. My cheek lining became swollen and rubbery. 4 weeks post event and no fever or rash experienced but the most alarming thing is that the fat on one cheek bone has almost disappeared and my face has got thinner. The fat on one cheek bone is ok but not on the other, this is completely new and isn’t apparent on any photograph taken before the event. My blood sugar is difficult to control now and I get cold easily and shiver on occasion even though my body temperature is normal. Approaching 5 weeks and pus filled spots occurred on my back. My tongue still hasn’t completely cleared up. Is this anxiety related? I had a DUO test at 5.5 weeks and it was negative. Could my insulin affect the test and what’s the latest that P24 can possibly show up?
Facial wasting or lipodistrophy is a side effect secondary to anti-retroviral medication and not a symptom of HIV. Therefore no one would get facial wasting after four weeks of HIV infection, regardless of intake of insulin.
Best wishes,
José
