Default Fourth generation HIV test

Hi doctor, Recently had a negative fourth generation HIV test 4weeks after exposure at my local gum clinic. How accurate do you believe this to be? The exposure was be receiving a hand job,but after i notice he had blood around his thumb nail. Not sure if it was dry blood or fresh but never saw any dripping blood.

Default Fiurth generation HIV test

Hello,

You have not specified the time interval.

If the HIV DUO test was done after 28 days after exposure then it will be greater than 99.89% accurate.

In any event, being masturbated by another will not expose you to HIV, irrespective as to the state of his nails.

best regards, Sean

Thanks for your reply Dr and Sorry for not making myself clear, the test was done 28 days after my exposure. I asked the nurse if she could find out which test they use. After speaking to the lab she got back to me and said it was a 4thgeneration test which looks for antigens and antibodies. I'm thinking this would be the same a the Duo test? I was worried that the blood from around his thumb nail may of got in the tip of my penis while he materbated me?

I noticed the blood on his nail just after he gave me the hand job so i presume it was present during the act

Yes, it seems to be the same as the Duo test and therefore your negative result is fully conclusive.
Kind regards,
José
