I am a 31 year old gay male. I was diagnosed with scarlet fever two weeks ago (I had a high fever, sore throat, rash and now peeling) and prescribed a 10 day course of antibiotics. I finished those on Sunday and had to go back to my doctors yesterday to test kidneys etc for no further complications. However my throat was still hurting and I have been diagnosed with tonsillitis and put on another 10 day course of antibiotics and she has done a throat swab to see what the bacteria is.
My question really is could this be more than scarlet fever. I have never had unprotected sex, never had anal sex, never oral without a condom, and usually only kiss and have mutual masturbation with my partners.
I have recently started seeing a lad (3 weeks ago) and this is all we have done kiss and mutually masturbate, he though was taken into hospital in March with severe tonsillitis, I asked my doctor whether I could of got this from him through kissing and she said no as he would still have to have tonsillitis. Prior to this I had a sexual encounter 6 weeks earlier this time only mutual masturbation and body rubbing, no kissing. I was fully std tested in april all negative with no other partners since.
Is it possible my new partner could have given me scarlet fever or could this be disguised as an std. I am thinking an STD is not really possible as we have only kissed (a lot) and mutually masturbated. I did kiss him after my first lot of antibiotics were cleared am wondering if I could be reinfected.
The only issue that make me think this may be more is that my hands are peeling after the scarlet fever which i am told is normal, however his hands have also started to peel but he has no other symptoms?.
I have two spots in my mouth (on inner bottom lip) this morning and am not sure what they are, very small and white but they seem to be going away.
We both went to GUM on weds to be tested as we had agreed anyway before going further we need to be safe and ill get the results next weds.
Am just a bit worried this is looking more than scarlet fever or am I over reacting, do you think it could be any std at work here but what could transmit from kissing and mutual masturbation?.

It is impossible in this situation for you to have contracted HIV sexually so you should not worry about that.
There are a number of very minor illnesses which cause people to feel ill and have a rash and one of these is glandular fever so it may be worth discussing with your doctor.
I think STD's in your circumstances are highly unlikely.
