Default Important question please I need your opinion and advise

Doctor Sean,

I wanted to register but couldn´t find the option, it says is "dissabled". I guess I will be an "unregistered" user. Well Doctor, to my particular question.

On 28th april, almost 3 weeks ago, I got a tiny cut on my thumb (because of bitting my nails and peeling skin back). It was very tiny, say 3mm long and 1mm or less wide, it bleed for a minut or so. 24 hours after this, I met a man in a gas station. I pass him my credit card and when returnig the voucher to sign, I got brief skin to skin contact (seconds). I saw his hands and he had a quite big wound (5mm or the size of a pencil eraser). It was not bleeding but looked fresh. Well I was just wondering, what if his wound made contact with mine? I didnt see any blood on my thumb but want to be sure if this can be conssidered a risk situation.

What makes me worry more is that 12 days after the incident, I started to feel my throat a bit dry, nothing to worry about but it felt dry, NO pain, I could eat and drink normally (eating and drinking feels like removing dryness). I also had some post nasal drip and for 2 days a lots of sneezing and nasal congestion (stuffy and runny nose). I have read that these are not symptoms related to ARS, but wanted to be sure asking the expert.

I most admit I´m having some anxiety since the incident and because my wife and I are looking for a second child I´m a bit worried something terrible can happen. In a normal situation, I will not be asking these sort of questions but I just need your oponion and expert advise to move on and close this silly chapter of my life. Sorry for my english, is not very good since I´m from Ecoador . Southamerica.

Kind regards,

Daniel

Good Morning

Thank you for the post.

You will be fine - although the episode has scared you I cannot see anything that looks remotely hazardous in what you've written.

You will not get HIV from this any more than the other man will get HIV from you.

Its not possible to transmit this way.

Relax and get on with making babies.

best wishes, Sean

Smile Thanks Doctor Sean

Doctor Sean, many thanks for your answer. Is hard to find answers sapecially a person wants to ask something specific. Many people like me just don get calm only by looking at similar questions, well in some cases yes, but not most of the times. I read your comments regarding "flu like" symptoms and I think is one of the best comments ever. For many of us flu is similar to a cold and when talking about a "flu like" symptoms we tend to understand cold symptoms may be included. In Latin America flu means gripe and we use the word almost for everything... if you have a cold peoples says is flu if you have allergy people says is flu if you have flu people says is flu if you sneeze people says is flu. Since good sites and organizations such as yours are not common in Latin America, is hard to find spanish speaking experts thatt can clarify this. Well, you and Dr. José have done it well.

I sepnd almost 2 years of my life in the UK, because of my MA at Oxford Brookes. Wish to come back one of these days, you are nice people. Once again, many thanks for your answer...

Best wishes

Daniel

Smile A final query

Doctor Sean,

Once again thanks for your answer. Just a final query, If my tiny 24 hours cut was a bit wider, it will not make any difference, will it?... By a bit wider I mean something like 1,5mm or 2mm... Many thanks

Best wishes,

Daniel
