Default need urgent help

I had protected sex with a woman last friday. I was very careful and did not perform oral because of this but unfortunately made the mistake of rubbing my eye after masturbating her. My eye started to itch an hour after that, since then it has been a bit watery and sore. My other eye is starting to become itchy too. It is now 7 days after having sex and i have developed a very sore throat, sensetive glands under my arms, flu like symptoms but no fever and a temperature of 36.5. my anxeity has gone through the roof. I cant sleep and havent eaten for days. Ive spoken to the woman who told me that she had an std screen and was cleared of everything last tuesday but is still waiting on her hiv results. she keeps on telling me i cannot catch it trough my eye but ive read differently. I am on a regular course of prednisolone because of my athsma so my immune system is pretty week. Would this increase my chances of catching it. Im sitting here with a flu 7 days after sex feeling very ill so im thinking these questions are pointless as its a dead cert that i contracted HIV. any words of advice as ive pretty much had it.

thanks in advance,

rob

Hello Rob,
Thank you very much for your post. I am not sure if I have already answered your question, but yesterday there was a very similar query.
The chances of contracting HIV through contact of infected vaginal fluid with the eye is negligible, practically non-existant. Therefore I think it is practically impossible this to be the case, regardless of the fact that you are on steroids. In any case, your symptoms are occurring far too early on for them to be anything to do with HIV sero-conversion.
However, what is much more likely is that you might have contracted something like Chlamydia in your eye, as it is often associated with conjunctivitis. It might be a good idea for you to have any eye discharge tested with a swab, as well as getting oral antibiotics, as well as antibiotic eye drops.
Best wishes,
José

hello dr Jose,
yes they are both my threads. Sorry i got a bit worried that the first didnt work properly. I just replied to the other one but wanted to add something else. Would any other STD that i could have contracted cause these symtoms. Tender under my arms, feeling sick, hot, sore throat, night sweats?

HI Dr,
just been reading up on a few things. Would it matter if it was cervical fluid and if it was soon after ie the fluid was wet on my fingers?

Cervical or vaginal fluid would both be infectious.
I honestly do not beleive that your symptoms would be those of acute HIV seroconversion as it seems too early on. They usually only happen after two weeks of the infection.
Even though I do not think that you need to be tested, you might get some peace of mind with a Multiplex PCR RNA test, which is highly sensitive with a reliability of 99% after 7 days.
Best wishes,
José

Hi, Dr Jose,

It was good to see you last week. My flu symptoms have almost dissapeared but still feel weak and drousy with raised glands and a slight sore throat, also the same eye is still a bit watery and i havent ever had a flu without nasal congestion so im a bit worried it my be something else. Test results came back negative, still waiting on HIV but was wondering if i should get a course of antibiotics or possibly test for another infection to be on the safe side.
kind regards

Rob

Hello Rob,
I honestly do not beleive that you need to be tested for any other STI. If you are suffering from a simple upper respiratory tract infection, you might benefit from a broad spectrum antibiotic.
Best wishes,
José
