Default Need your advice

Hi there,

I had my STD test for everything on Saturday and all came out negative today (Tuesday).
But On Sunday I found a whitehead thing on the head of the penis.
My test include HSV-2 .. can i rule out the chance that this thing is Herpes?

Thank you very much

Hi, there!
A 'whitehead thing' is not a sign of herpes. Herpes causes a painful rash with typical blisters. It sounds more like a spot or a blocked gland, what you describe. If you had a negative HSV-2 serology test, then that would confirm that you do not have that type of virus in your body.
Best wishes,
Jose

Sorry Dr Jose, just one more question.

How long does it take for HSV-2 to show up in blood test?
The lab guy said tests these days are pretty sensitive and told me it won't take long to show up in the test, but didn't say how long. It just worries me as the whitespot only showed up one day after I did the test and the test may give a faults negative result.
(My potential exposure was about 7 to 8 weeks ago and it was an unprotected oral sex)

Thank you very much again.

By the way it was a HSV II Ab ELISA serology test.

In most cases, 3-4 weeks after initial infection, one would have antibodies against HSV2; therefore your test is conclusive.
Best wishes,
Jose
