Default Oral Sex And Testing Follow Up

Hi Doctor Sean

I posted last week regarding oral sex performed on me by a sex worker (Paul the farmer)

I went to my local GUM clinic yesterday to have a chlamydia and a Gonnorhea test 23 days after the incident. I requested just the tests advised but got rail roaded into having a full batch of tests which I went along with at the time but im having second thoughts now!!

This has now got me really worried as i'd got Hiv out of my mind and wasnt planning on testing for it as the above was the only exposure ive had since my last test!! Do you think they were doing this as a matter of course or is there a small chance I should prepare myself for the worst?

Sorry to trouble you but I now have a grouling 2 week wait and I know im going to be in a rite state, the whole reason I wanted to steer clear of hiv testing in the first place!!

Many thanks Paul.

Hello Paul,
Thank you for your post.
In the NHS GUM clinics tend to do the full STD screening including HIV test as a matter of routine. That is the reason why they did it in your case.
There is no need for you to worry about as you did not put yourself at risk of HIV infection in the first place.
I can assure you that the result will be negative.
Best wishes,
José

Hi Jose

Thanks for that. I think my anxiety wasnt helped as the testing was done in a bit of a weird way, a doctor saw me and took a swab then sent me down to the toilets to do a urine sample which I had to hand into a different room and the woman was just like oh leave that on the table then a different nurse called me in and took my bloods. This has got me panicking about mix ups as last time 1 nurse did everything but they assure me its standard procedure so lets hope so!!!

I know you usually close the threads but can you leave it open so I can post my results and fingers crossed thank you for all of your brilliant advice?

Many thanks

Paul.

Good morning Jose and sean

Well I got my results back from the clinic, very swiftly actually and thankfully they were all negative (pretty much as you'd predicted)!!

I'd just like to say a big thank you to you both for your advice and patience over this period. Im going to put this whole mess behind me and move on with hopefully a far simpler life!!

Many thanks again and you both deserve medals for the great service!!

Kind Regards

Paul
