I had unprotected penetrative sex with a new partner on 08th and 12th of July. He said that after about two days of the second occasion he developed small bumps on his penis which he was told was herpes. He said he has taken some medication for about five days and they have gone. I have had a blood test done at your clinic to determine if I am a Herpes Simplex I and Herpes Simplex II carrier, both of which have come back negative so I could not have given it to him.
I do however have some questions:
1. He did not have any bumps when I had sex with him but if he has herpes already and what he was having was an outbreak, would I have to wait 12 weeks before having the blood test again to determine once and for all if he has passed it on to me? I have no symptoms at present but this does not mean that I will not get them.
2. On 21st July 2011 I had tests at my local GUM clinic for Gonorrhea, Syphilis, Chlamydia and HIV. Were these tests done too soon to detect Gonorrhea, Syphilis and Chlamydia? If so, how long should I wait before having repeat tests? Again, I currently have no symptoms.
3. I know that you have three different types of tests for HIV at your clinic, which one is the most suitable for me to take now to out my mind at rest to rule out HIV?

I would say though that heterosexually acquired syphilis is very unusual
3. I know that you have three different types of tests for HIV at your clinic, which one is the most suitable for me to take now to out my mind at rest to rule out HIV?I would wait until 28 days - as you are near that point - the HIV DUO test takes only four hours to process and is exceptionally accurate
