I am a male and about a year ago now i had unprotected anal sex (reciever) with a man i barely knew, this was twice a week apart, the first time with a condom the 2nd time without. I was very drunk at the time and using cocaine (it was a bad time of my life).
As i remember aprox 2weeks after this episode i came down with a bad fever and feeling generaly unwell which lasted aprox 5days and ever since then my anus has been a little itchy. I am too scared and worried to have a test, given the symptoms i had, i feel almost sure i am Hiv+ I have not had any sexual contact since and i shall not do so.
Is it likely that i am Hiv+

It is certainly possible from what you describe. I'd say a few things though:-
1) although its possible, its not actually likley that a single event like that would cause you to be HIV positive so it certainly is not a forgone conclusion so I would really encourage you to test.
2) if you are HIV positive then you will always benefit from knowing that as soon as possible because the treatments are absolutely life saving. It used to be the case when I first started in medicine that all our new HIV positives would die fairly promptly. That stopped in around late 1996 with the introduction of Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy.
