Default Possible STD Throat Infection

Hi Dr. Sean and Dr. Jose,

I performed unprotected oral sex on another man, and since then one of my tonsils appears to be swollen. Could this be a STD infection of the throat. I was tested for chlamydia and gonnorhea via urine sample and this came back all clear. If it were a STD in the throat I presume it wouldn't show up in a urine test.

Do I need further testing?

Thanks.

PS. I tested negative for HIV, Hep B and Syphillis.

Default Possible STD Throat

Hello

You are absolutely right - to test for STD's in the throat you will need to have a throat swab.

best wishes, Sean
