Default Quickest test with accuracy?

Hello- I am 29 M professional...never had sex with a sex worker before...until I was on business trip to Moscow. I got way too drunk in an expat pick up joint "Night Flight" in Moscow.

Took the girl to hotel-- since I was too drunk I never had sex with her-- she tried to give me oral first with condom-- then without...I remember myself saying...put condom on and her response "don't worry about it"

We had glasses of wine in the room-- and i remember breaking one. Anyways, I threw up many times eventually and she left. She took some money out of my wallet-- but not all. Which is surprising-- my guess is that since she had to register with the hotel before entering with her passport etc (hotel policy)- she didn't want to get into trouble. I paid her $300.

Anyways, I woke up next morning....and saw a big cut on my foot-- with blood stains on the bed sheet from my foot. Looking around it looked like she had cleaned my vomit and my blood with a shirt of mine and put that into the toilet.

If this cut on my foot was because of....a broken glass (but the cut is on the top of foot and not bottom!)...i think I am fine. My biggest fear is would she just give me a cut to transmit HIV/STD?

I also think that....she never took my credits cards, wallet, even left most of the money there (only took her $300-350) because she didn't want to be in trouble with the hotel (i assume prostitutes go there frequently)....she even cleaned the glass and other things...and told at the reception that there were some broken glasses.

This happened saturday morning (Jan 24)-- and I am stressed to death-- can't work, sleep or eat...feeling sick all the time. I am getting married March 14th; not sure what to do. What is the quickest and accurate test I can do to get an answer?

Default Quickest HIV test with accuracy

Good Morning,

First, relax!

I think:-

1) highly unlikley she was HIV positive
2) paranoid to think that she would cut you deliberately
3) she seems very nice actually considering you were so pissed -I don't know many people who would clean up other peoples vomit
4) she only took $300 instead of the whole lot
5) she even warned reception there was broken glass

You can have an HIVPCR test at 10 days post event - but honestly I think all thats happened is you got pissed, took a sex worker back to your room, vomited in a romantic fashion and she took care of you. Golden Star to the Fairy Godmother Hooker.

You'll be fine.

Best regards, Sean

Thanks Dr. Any my apologies for hijacking someone else's thread.

What is the accuracy of PCR test? From the other posts, looks like it takes 5 work days to get the results back.
Also, would I need to still do the DUO test at 28 days.....and 1 at 6 months?

Hi, there!
The reliability of the HIV Proviral PCR after 10 days of the exposure is calculated around 94% and it does take at least 5 to 7 days for us to get the result. Because of this figure, it is always advisable to have an HIV Duo test after 28 days, which if negative would be conclusive without the need to have any further testing after that.
Best wishes,
Jose

Thanks!

So if I get a negative after 28 days-- I would never need to take another test for this exposure? not even the 3 months one?

2nd question is: how long is the "window" period for checking all other possible STDs? what other STds I could have contracted by getting an oral from 10-15 seconds from a women with those diseases?

I am more worried about other diseases now-- considering she was a Russian CSW

I would like to do the ALL STD test, including HIV and Herpes and everything else.

If the exposure was on Jan 24rth-- when is the earliest I can have a test for all?

Since I won't get results for PCR until 15-16 days post exposure- I think I will come in for a 28 day HIV test as that is more reliable.

thanks,

Default Qucikest test with accuracy

Hello,

You can have a look at our PDF Guide to STD's here which will give you further information.

I think the best approach is to test for these things at 28 days along with your HIV test and then you'll get peace of mind. I'm sure though that all will be well and you will be fine on all fronts. I understand why you're worked up about it but I think probably unnecessarily.

best wishes, Sean

Thank you so much, Dr.

I read through the guide very quickly- couldn't find "window" time for other STDs....
Do they also have a window period of 28 days or less? I guess what I am trying to figure out is....the results for all STDs including HIV would be pretty conclusive after 28 day testing. I will call in next week to make appointment for the week of Feb 23rd.

thanks again....

All right, first, I want to sincerely apologize for acting like a child here.

But I think I REALLY need to get over with this...whatever the result be...
I have lost my sleep...and will lose my job very soon because of this stress....

Tuesday- Feb 3rd makes it the 10th day post exposure (My exposure was around 2-3am Jan 23 night/Jan 24 morning). Do you think it would be better if I wait until wednesday- 4rth....or testing on tuesday would be within 94% accuracy too? I understand the 5 day result time implication.

My only other questions are:

- In your experience or based on any research-- have there been any cases with 10 Day negative PCR tests turning into a positive in DUO tests?
- I have taking some anti-oxidants (herbal mainly), do you that could have an impact on the PCR result?

Default Quickest test with accuracy?

Good Morning again,

I think probably best leave it until Weds for the 10 day HIV PCR.

We can do most of the other STD tests at the same time.

I repeat though that I think you are absolutely fine and I think the sex worker took admirable care of you. I really do not think you are at any risk at all.

Very best wishes, Sean
