Default Recurring issues

Hi docs

I have some recurring health problems (possible sexual) which no-one seems to be able to get to the bottom of so I thought that I would ask your opinion. I'll start off by saying that I know that it is not HIV (I have had tests well into the window period).

For the past 2.5 years I have been getting pain on my tongue as well as in my mouth and throat. It does come and go but, at times, my tongue is burning and it is often inflamed and scalloped (by the shape of my teeth). It often has a white coating and is geographic. I'll also get ulcers on it as well as in my mouth.

My GP has tested a swab from my tongue for thrush and said that there was no sign. A while ago I was referred to an oral surgeon who said that I have the mouth of a smoker (he said that it looked a bit red and unhealthy but I've never smoked and have good oral hygiene) but otherwise could find nothing. I also wake up with a sore throat most days.

The other symptom I get (which I feel is related) is urgency of urination and recurrent thrush on my penis. The urgency always happens (without fail) a day after ejaculation (with or without anyone else involved) and lasts about 3-5 days. When it is at its worst, I feel bursting even 5 minutes after going. Also when I go, it is always a bit dribbly afterwards leaving a wet patch in my kecks This only happens when the symptoms are there. There is no pain or burning, just the sensation of really needing a wee. I also don't get any discharge.

It also seems to often occur along with thrush under my foreskin, which always goes away with Canestan.

I have had thrush tablets from the GP but that did not help. I've also been to a urologist who stuck a camera down there (crikey, that was not fun) and said that it looked normal apart from a small growth in my bladder which was removed and proved to be benign.

I've been tested for all of the usual suspects (NSU, G, C, Syhp, HIV etc.) and it is all negative but the symptoms are always there. It is very frustrating.

I wondered if you had any advice at all. I find when you got to see a specialist, they have a list of things that they test for and then send you on your way when you test negative.

These all started a few weeks after giving oral sex to a woman (who recipricated) who I didn't really know and have not spoken to since. That may or may not be at all related.

I don't think that I have been tested for HPV (not even sure if you can) but I assume that if no-one has suggested that, it can't be the issue. However, is that something that I should test for? Could it cause these issues? I had a blood test for HSV and it was also negative.

Any thoughts / advice would be much appreciated as it is very frustrating.

Many thanks

B

Default Recurring issues

Hello,

Oh golly .... I can't help you here with this I'm afraid.

We'd be happy to see you and advise but the question you pose is an impossible one for this Forum. If you do attend then book a 40 minute appointment and bring along your paypay/google receipt and we will discount you the relevant amount.

I suspect I'm afraid that the issue will remain unresolved from your point of view.

Best regards, Sean
