I contacted you about an unfortunate encounter with a female from Slovakia (who is now living in the UK) whilst on holiday. We gave each other oral sex and there was genital contact.
HIV duo, Hep B, Syphilis, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea all tested at 12 weeks post possible exposure. HIV duo also tested at just over 5 weeks. All came out negative. Really feel confused because my urine smells foul and is foamy and can be painful to urinate with a strange sensation at the tip of my penis, I have a red blotchy rash on my palms which fades sometimes and then comes back. My feet and palms in particular are itchy but suffer from general itchiness too. Still got the white tongue from day 1 after exposure which doesn’t seem to be clearing still with rubbery swollen lining of the mouth. Had a folliculitis type rash on my back since about 5 weeks post event. Now I have got a sensation of burning skin around my tricep on one arm which is a new symptom.
My urine was tested for protein and general infection and this was clear.
Is the hep B test conclusive? Do I need a Hep A or C test?
Hello,
All your negative test results carried out at 12 weeks are final and fully conclusive, including Hepatitis B. Hepatitis A is not considered an STD as it can be contracted through contaminated food or water and you might be immunised against it anyway as it is one of the routine travel immunisations. Hepatitis C is rare and you did not do anything to put yourself at risk to contract it; it is very difficult to be transmitted through sexual intercourse. None of your symptoms are those of hepatitis anyway. Some of your symptoms could be related to NSU (Non-specific urethritis) and it might be worth being tested for this, and even taking an emprirical course of antibiotics to treat it might be a good idea. Also it might be worth for you to get a general blood test to see if one can explain your sympotms.
Best wishes,
José
Could there be any chance that my 12 week test might have missed possible Hep B? It's now 16 weeks and wondering if I should test again. Also if I had an STD in the mouth eg Gonorrhea, would that be picked up in my urine sample? I've still got foamy urine and was tested clear for NSU. I'm diabetic, could that affect any testing?
Could there be any chance that my 12 week test might have missed possible Hep B? exceptionally unlikely - but in any event, the symptoms you describe are not hepatitis B It's now 16 weeks and wondering if I should test again. I don't think it necessaryAlso if I had an STD in the mouth eg Gonorrhea, would that be picked up in my urine sample?no I've still got foamy urine and was tested clear for NSU. I'm diabetic, could that affect any testing? no, diabetes will not affect the testing - but if you have foamy urine and foul smelling urine a urinary tract infection which is not sexually transmitted is a distinct possibility and you should see a doctor and test for that
