Smile Unprotected anal Sex with sex worker United Kingdom

This is my second post on freedomhealth. I want to know more information to do with sexual health. thanks doctors for the information.

I am a male 21 years old.

If I had anal sex with a female sex worker in the United Kingdom in a massage parlour is it possible to get HIV. If she was positive for HIV and had been infected 2 months ago. What is the percentage chance I would get HIV infection after having anal sex with her 2 months after she got infected?

Also if I had only unprotected vaginal sex ith a female sex worker in the United Kingdom in a massage parlour, and she had hepatitis B, would I get infection from vaginal sex? what is the percentage chance I would get hepatitis B? if I did get acute hepatitis b from her, would alcohol consumption after 2 weeks make it more likely that I would get chronic hepatitis b.

Also can I ask if all NHS GUM clinics in hospitals use fourth generation HIV tests. HIV antibody AND p24 antigen simultaneously. OR do a minority still in late 2011 still use third generation tests? are fourth generation HIV tests universally used in every single NHS GUM clinics in hospitals in the UK?

thanks

Default Unprotected anal sex with sex worker in the United Kingdom

Good Morning,

You have asked:-

If I had anal sex with a female sex worker in the United Kingdom in a massage parlour is it possible to get HIV.yes, certainly, if she was HIV positive If she was positive for HIV and had been infected 2 months ago. What is the percentage chance I would get HIV infection after having anal sex with her 2 months after she got infected? the overall chance per penetrative episode would be around 1% - however, certain thingswill increase that chance - these are 1) recently acquired HIV 2) presence of other std's 3) anal sex will increase the chance compared with penetrative vaginal sex

Also if I had only unprotected vaginal sex ith a female sex worker in the United Kingdom in a massage parlour, and she had hepatitis B, would I get infection from vaginal sex?not certain but a chance yes of course what is the percentage chance I would get hepatitis B?insufficinet data to calculate - I owuld say though that hepeatitis B is much more infectious than HIV so I would postulate a higher chance. if I did get acute hepatitis b from her, would alcohol consumption after 2 weeks make it more likely that I would get chronic hepatitis b.probably not

Also can I ask if all NHS GUM clinics in hospitals use fourth generation HIV tests.the dept of health guidance is that they should be - some do not - you will need to check HIV antibody AND p24 antigen simultaneously. OR do a minority still in late 2011 still use third generation tests? are fourth generation HIV tests universally used in every single NHS GUM clinics in hospitals in the UK?as above.

best regards, Sean

When someone is tested in your experience how common is hepatitis b an std after someone has reported to you that they have had unprotected vaginal sex. I think hepatitis b is not transmitted through unprotected vaginal sex most of the time. Do you agree? Should I test for hepatitis b after I have had unprotected vaginal sex with a sex worker?

Good Morning,

You asked:-

"When someone is tested in your experience how common is hepatitis b an std after someone has reported to you that they have had unprotected vaginal sex.uncommon but possible I think hepatitis b is not transmitted through unprotected vaginal sex most of the time. Do you agree? no - if the woman you plan to have sex with is a carrier of hepatitis B then there is a distinct risk of acquiring Hepatitis B from herShould I test for hepatitis b after I have had unprotected vaginal sex with a sex worker?it would make much more sense to make sure you are immunised against hepatitis b - the immunisations are inexpensive and very very effective - and will usually last for a period of around 5 to 10 years before requiring boosters. Having unprotected sex with sex workers will expose you to significant risk

best wishes, Sean
