I hope you can put my mind at rest. Im a white british female in early 30's - only ever had 5 partners (male)
Ive did somethig stupid about a year ago. I had sex with the same guy on 2 occassions without protection. (something i will never repeat) however, he had been back a few months from travelling around asia ( white, english, guy was in 40s - never been married, but had been in a stable relationship previously)
I cant honestly remember if he came inside me ot not. I didnt get any sypmtoms after the episode, and i took both a gonorrhea and chlamydia test soon after. Both of which were negative.
I can honestly say it never occurred to me to be HIV. However roll on a year and in the last couple of days ive had a few night sweats. Never had this before and when you put night sweats into google, well you can imagine what comes up !
Now I'm truly scared. Ive been in a relationship with a guy for about 6 months now and its serious, so we have stopped using anything. Now I'm worried ive infected him.
I suffer from b12 anaemia which is treated by injections. What i really want to know is how big a risk have i got? Am i worrying over nothing?
If he was infected what are my chances after 2 sexual occassions? I have no reason to believe he is and when i mentioned it to him about sleeping with other people abroad, he said he hadnt. And what is the risk of passing it on to my partner if I am infected?
Any reassurances or statisitics would be fantastic.
I am sorry for the slight delay in response - the Forum and the Clinic have been really incredibly busy - not a sufficient excuse for you but the only one I have.
I don't believe there is a credible prospect of this man having infected you.
However, the only way to find out is to do a test - and I think from the level of anxiety that is bubbling away in you then you should do that.
I am sure that you will be HIV negative but you should do that to formally close that off for yourself.
