Question Very fearful

Dear Dr,

I was in the United States last week on Business, i ended up getting totally drunk and met an escort at the hotel, she was $500 per hour.
We did nothing the whole time until the last 10-15 minutes, I wore a condom, and was on top and went inside doggy style, it was very dry and so i came out after about 3-5minutes and laid on my back to adjust the condom, as i adjusted it to pull it down, it broke.
She was mad that it broke for fear that it was broken while inside of her and said she was mad because she didnt know what i had, she then put a new one on and i continued for a couple minutes but was not into it by that point so i pulled out condom intact and that was it.
I then started getting worried for my life and thinking non-stop in my head.
I spoke to her the other day and she said she is totally clean and gets tested every three months.
Im in fear for HIV and would like to know your thoughts, please dont give me a telling off as im nervous enough as it is.
I am circumcised by the way.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your post.
From your description it seems that you were wearing a condom at all times whilst you were penetrating and the condom only broke outside. Therefore this would not involve any risk of HIV infection at all whatsoever. I do not think that you need to worry.
If the condom had broken inside of the vagina whilst having sex, the risk for you would still be relatively low in the case of the lady being positive. The estimated risk for you would be much less than 0.1% or less than 1 in 1,000, especially as you are circumcised and the risk is less.
Best wishes,
José

So do you suggest just taking an std test or hiv as well?

If you think that the head of your penis came into contact with some vaginal fluid, it is possible that you might have put yourslef at risk of STIs like Chlamydia or Gonorrhoea and hece you shiould be tested for these. otherwise I do not think that you really need to be tested as intercourse was always safe.
Best wishes,
José

Question

Sorry to keep asking questions, im just trying to find some peace.
So you are saying even if the head of my penis came into contact with vaginal fluid i dont have much or any risk for HIV? (no laughing please) i have a small penis too, does this help at all? And do you think the escort is telling the truth about having nothing and getting tested every three months? she sounded genuine but who knows. I'm a bit of a paranoid person.
Thanks so much for your patience.

Default Very fearful re HIV

Hello

I've had a look at your post, Jose's answers and your further questions.

As Jose says, there is a theoretical risk, if you are particularly pessimistic, that you might have been exposed to chalmydia and gonorrohea and testing is appropriate.

As to whether she's telling the truth? who know's ? - but actually probably.

I do not think you need test for HIV because you were protected during penetration.

Chlamydia and gonorrhoea are hugely more infectious diseases than HIV and much easier to catch.

best regards, Sean
