Angry Worried

Please could I ask for your help.
Aout 5 weeks ago I had unprotected oral sex with a guy. He didnt ejaculate in my mouth nor I in his. however after he had ejaculated into a condom I sucked him again.
He assures me that he has only been with 1 other person and was safe.
I had a 4 week HIV test done which was negative. I was told by the GUM clinic to return at 12 weeks for a follow up test.
Maybe I could accept the result more if I didn't have symptoms.. Ever since I first started to panic about the situation I have had what I can only describe as a burning throat (real panic and anxiety!!!) I also have aching testicles - ut don't know whether that is all in the mind too!!!

I have no rash or fever.

What are the chances the 4 week duo test was wrong and am I worrying unnecessarily?

Would be grateful for any advice

Thankyou

Hello

Aout 5 weeks ago I had unprotected oral sex with a guy. He didnt ejaculate in my mouth nor I in his.No risk to you when you were sucked - absolutely minimal risk, if any at all when you sucked him however after he had ejaculated into a condom I sucked him again.Again, absolutely minimal risk, if at all, to you
He assures me that he has only been with 1 other person and was safe.well, he may well be safe but please don't rely on what people say - always always take responsibility for your own health and make sure you are safe
I had a 4 week HIV test done which was negative. I was told by the GUM clinic to return at 12 weeks for a follow up test.I think the combination of an at worst a very minimal activity and a negative HIV DUO test at 28 days = you ar e HIV negative. I do understand why they wanted you back but you are HIV negative
Maybe I could accept the result more if I didn't have symptoms.. Ever since I first started to panic about the situation I have had what I can only describe as a burning throat (real panic and anxiety!!!)mate, you've had an erect penis nudging the back of your throat - that may well have stirred things up I also have aching testicles - ut don't know whether that is all in the mind too!!!well, again, you have had sex with an unknown partner and now you have symptoms - These are much more likely to be simple bacterial or physical irriation symptoms. You are not HIV positive, but an STD screen would be useful

I have no rash or fever.

What are the chances the 4 week duo test was wrong and am I worrying unnecessarily?None and yes, in that order.

Would be grateful for any advice
Forget HIV but get a routine STD screen done.

Very best, Sean

Default Thanks

Thank you for your very prompt reply.

I have had a full STD Screen done at my local GUM Clinic are results were negative. The aching testicles may as you say be a simple infection and I will get this checked out, however they do seem worse when I'm in ananxious state as does the sore throat- well not exactly sore its burning some of the time which I bvelieve may be due to acid reflux thru being anxious.
All of the things that you have told me are the same as everyone else has said so I now need to believe this and get on with life.

Could I ask again that you do not email me - as when I paid by paypal I used the account that my wife and I use and so I would hate for her to see these details of my 1st and last moment of madness.

Thank you so very much

Default Update

I went to the doctors today and she diagnosed the burning throat as an infection due to the fact that I seem to have gingivitis. She has given me amoxocillan and said this may also help with the testicle ache I now also have the pain in my back and Doc said it could have gone into the kidney. have given a water sample - await results.

Still very scared that the HIV test could have been wrong and this is the symptoms. Medhelp.org categorically state that oral sex is a no exposure case. Terence Higgins trust say that there has never been a case documented where HIV was passed on just from oral sex.

In your last reply you said you understood why the GUM clinic want to test at 3 months - Why???

I have also read that 4th Generation test at 4 weeks is as conclusive as 3rd generation at 12 weeks?

Grateful for any comments

Thanks again

Good Morning

In your last reply you said you understood why the GUM clinic want to test at 3 months - Why??? well, its very obvious to me that you are extremely worried about a non-event and I haven't met you. I would imagine taht the people at the GU clinic picked up on that panic and offered you a further test as a comfort.

I have also read that 4th Generation test at 4 weeks is as conclusive as 3rd generation at 12 weeks?they differ very slightly - the 4th generation test will give an accuracy of 99.89% at 4 weeks and the antibody test will be 99.99% at 3 m9nths/12 weeks./84 days.
Anyway, you're HIV negative - celebrate and move on.

very best wishes, Sean
