Hi. 10 days ago I had an experience with a transexual escort. I regret it terribly now. I performed oral sex on her not protected but only for about thirty seconds only putting in mouth twice for few seconds. I was then penetrated analy and that was protected with a condom. Lubricant was also used. I panicked after and she said she was safe. Am i at a major risk. Im quite a worrier and after just two days since the contact i kept waking up with hot and cold flushes and a bit of sweat on my forehead and that has continued each night since.I cant stop worrying. Just today i felt a small lump under one armpit. I also keep getting a tingly feeling in my throat.
I want to do a hiv test 10 day post exposure. Is this accurate? Would love your thoughts on my post as i feel like im going mad with worry!
I think you are fine and you will not be HIV positive.
To become HIV positive you will have had to do something risky with a person who was him or herself HIV positive.
In fact, your penetrative sex was safe. Sucking presents minimal risk if any.
You may have acquired an STD in your throat as a result of the unprotected sucking but I just do not believe that you are exposed to HIV.
You can of course test at 10 days and yes, these early HIV tests are accurate. But, you are not at any particular risk so you may want to wait until 28 days and do a 4th generation test which is cheaper and returned to us faster.
Hello and thank you for your quick reply. I have actually made an appointment with your clinic foe tomorrow to have the 10 day test. Im willing to do this as so stressed. As regards to the waking up with flushes and feeling strange do u think thats just great anxiety?
I dont think that the condom broke or anything like that but dont know for sure. Also they didnt ejaculate at all during the experience.
It was a stupid thing to do as have a gf who i adore. Just curiosity got the better of me.
I received my results and they came back negative which is a relief. I had the early detection test. Due to the circumstances of the sexual incident above do u think i can move on now or will require further tests.
No, you can leave this now. You had a non event and have had an excellent test subsequent to it. You are not HIV positive. Stop worrying about it and move on.
I just worry still slightly as on the net it says that a further test after the multiplex is required? But you seem confident i dont.
Secondly I had the early multiplex with you at 12 days after contact. Ten days before and two days after the contact I had to have routine blood tests for something unrelated. You dont think the routine blood tests 10 days prior to the multiplex test could have interfered with the reliablity of the multiplex do you? Both tests were taken from the same arm.
Nothing of any interest in terms of risk happened so you were not exposed.
Subsequent to that you've had a truly first rate test at an excellent interval. The test is negative. The combination of the two facts of 1) you not being exposed and 2) a negative multiplex = you are certainly HIV negative.
The other blood tests are irrelevant.
You are right to say that we do recommend following up a multiplex with a DUO - BUT we do take very close interest in the facts and the fact is you didn't have an exposure in the first place. Consequently, you do not need a further test.
