Default Worried... Going out of my mind...

Hi guys,

I have been reading the posts here for a little while now... You have helped to put my mind at rest 95% and I already feel lots better Thank you for that.

Right, to the problem...

On October 5th I received unprotected oral sex from a guy (I'm happily married and plan on this not happenening again!!). The guy sucked and I ejaculated in his mouth. He swallowed. It lasted for around 30 minutes. There were no sores or cuts to my knowledge on either of us. We also kissed.

I have regretted this ever since.

Fast forward to December 10th. I started to get a dull ache in the groin area that swapped sides. After a day or so the ache moved around. Sometimes in my tummy and sometimes in my lower back. On December 15th I noticed a small bump (looks like a mole forming on my tummy), it does not hurt or cause any pain. I also remember having what seemed like a small blister on my lip. This disappeared after about a day.

On December 16th I visited my GP. She checked me over and said my groin lympth nodes were a little swollen but i'm slim so you can feel them more. She checked under my arms and my throat. All seemed fine. She gave me a 10 day course of Cipro and has booked me in for an Ultrasound.

I then looked on the net... Big mistake. I noticed my symptoms seemed to bring up a variety of STDs. Including HIV (which is what i'm worried about). I then remebered that around the time of the Oral sex (Oct 5th) I had a lot of spots on my forehead (enough for my wife to notice) and had a cold around the same time too - runny nose and sneezing - Sinus pain and what I thought was a stye in my eye. Other people at work did have this cold after me too. I took normal Lemsip and cold/flu medication and the cold cleared up. Not sure when the spots disappeared. So all this has made me feel lots, lots worse!

From December 20th onwards I began to have pain in my kneck and upper back, under my arms, tingling in the hands and pain in the back of the knees. I noticed my eyes were blood shot and felt like something was stuck in them (but I had been constantly surfing the net on my phone, sometimes for hours).

I then returned to my GP on the 23rd. He said that these symptoms sound like IBS - I do have GERD/GORD and this leaves me with a dry mouth, chest pain and extreme bloating... which I've also been expriencing. He also checked the spot on my tummy and told me this was nothing to worry about, these things do happen to us as we grow older. Still worried, on the same day I visted my local GUM where I had tests for all STDs. As its the Christmas period I'm still awaiting my results. Great!

I put it out of my mind on Christmas day and had a good day, felt lots better. However, Boxing day was worse, my wife began to feel ill (we have had unprotected sex twice between October 18th and December 10th) Stupid I know.

She now has cold symptoms and an ear ache and is currenlty in bed. I'm constantly looking at her for spots and things and as soon as my mind wonders back on to this I can feel my symptoms creeping back in... Aches under arms and neck. However, the Cirpo seems to have worked as my groin feels lots better. I finished the course yesterday and have not had any dull feelings in the groin.

Other things that may have resulted in a few things. I started using a new hair product and had a floppy fringe that rests over my forehead. I changed this and now have a quiff and the spots are gone.

I started doing situps and pushups at the start of August. Every morning and every evening I would do 30 of each. This was without any warm ups etc. I have now stopped this too.

On the 26th November and 17th December (before I took my Cipro) I had a huge amount to drink. Double whiskys and other spririts. This resulted in me throwing up after each.

Really hope you guys can help and put my mind at rest about some of the symptoms I have been expereincing.

Thanks in advance.

Default Worried - going out of my mind.

Hello,

Relax...you will not have acquired HIV from this event. Most certainly not. Even if the other fellow did have HIV, you will NOT have acquired it from him.

With respect to other STD's, it is a possibility that you might have contracted chlamydia or gonorrhoea, but your symptoms and signs are suggestive of over-enthusiastic self-examination rather than a disease.

All the other bits and pieces I suspect are absolutely innocent and they are definitely not symptoms or signs of HIV.

Best wishes, Sean

Hi Dr,

Thank you for the reply! This has made me feel lots better! I have also had a few more words of wisdom from my local GUM too. All makes me feel lots better and very reassuring.

However, I am still waiting for my results so I'm still not aware if any other STD is present.

One last question... Could the ache in my groin (and now in my neck) be related to one of the other STDs you mention? I do not want to search those on the net you see And if so wouldn't the antibiotics have removed any infection?

Many, many thanks! This forum and the advice you give really is super and means a lot.

Thanks again

Hello

I think its very unlikely that you have any STD's at all. But, the good thing is that you've had the tests etc and so you will know this for sure very shortly.

Best wishes and Happy New Year!

Sean
