Unhappy Dear doctors please advice

I have one encounter which i cannot tell an exact exposure, but i need ur advice for my peace of mind.
Can Hiv transmit from open cuts or sore when u get in accident or fight with someone?
I had a traffic accident where a guy which i dont know hit his head against my face (train had an emergency breaking) from my side i had a bleeding in lips and gums and he had his skin cut by my teeth.
Should i get tested and if yes in which amount of time.
Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello,
In theory, there is always a possible risk. However in reality this would be highly unlikely and extremely difficult. Firstly the other man would have to be positive (and statistically that would be unlikely); secondly, a significant amount of blood would have needed to get into your bloodstream through your open wounds (and this is also quite difficult).
Therefore I do not believe that you need to worry. If you wanted complete peace of mind, you could always have a HIV Duo test after 4 weeks of the incident, even though it is not really necessary.
Kind regards,
José
