Default HIV Test

Hi Doctors, I have noticed there seems to be a lot of questions about the HIV testing and in particular the window period. How sensitive a process is it based on the number of days/weeks that you wait before taking it? See I miscalculated the number of days/weeks and took the test after 11 weeks and 4 days after the potential exposure (so 81 days) as opposed to exactly 12 weeks which I know is the recommendation (84 days) It may sound like a daft question but do the 3 days short matter? Can I rely on the result of the 81 days test?

Thanks, Andy.

Default HIV Test

Hi Andy, I think you are fine with a test at 81 days. The 4th generation antibody tests are so good now that you can rely on them at that time frame. Relax and forget it. Best regards, Sean
