Default HIV tests

I recently had an HIV DUO at around 12 weeeks minimum at one of your competitors in a street nearby, they told me that thier DUO was only around 98% accurate after 12 weeks so now i'm back to square one again with being very anxious! is your test a newer version or do you use a different system and how sure could i be of my test if i came to see you. p.s i had a neg duo at 6 weeks as well. but i've had a sore throat since about week 3 which comes and goes and my groin has recently had some swollen glands!

My risk was unprotected sex with an italian girl about 4 times.

Thanks

Default HIV Tests

Good morning. If you definitely had an HIV DUO test at 12 weeks then you are HIV negative - the accuracy of this test at 28 days or more is 99.89%. As time goes on and the antibody part of the test becomes more prominent then the test will increase in accuracy to 99.99 recurring. At six weeks a 4th generation ELISA antibody - which is the most likely test you had - will be 99% accurate.

You are HIV negative.

Best wishes, Séan

ps thank you for not naming the clinic

Default Just one more thing.

Sorry for being a donut but the 4th generation antibody is that the same as a DUO? i had the one that looks for a p24 in your blood as well as the antibodies!! sorry all these different test are very confusing! and if it was the ELISA antibody is this conclusive at 3 months also??

Thanks for your rapid response last time.

Default HIV Test

No worries. The HIV DUO uses 4th generation antibody testing. Our rapid tests use 4th generation technology. I cant comment about any other clinic. Best wishes, Séan

Hi, there!
The 3rd generation would then be the antibody test only, which also if negative, would be conclusive after 12 weeks. No need to worry!
Best wishes,
Jose
