Question oral thrush and hiv

doctors

Could you tell me how long oral thrush would take to appear if it was linked to hiv.
Also if someone had oral thrush that was linked to hiv and had an insti test while the thrush was present would the test have become positive.
The insti test i had came back negative and was taken well out of the window period.

thanks

Hi, there!
Oral thrush, if linked to HIV, usually would appear when the immune system starts to be compromised, which can happen many years after the infection. Therefore someone with oral thrush, related to HIV, would always have a positive HIV test, as it is very likely that this person would have possibly be positive for a long time. Oral thrush has no effect in the results of an HIV test whatsoever.
Best wishes,
Jose
