Hi doctors
I know this is ridiculous but I'd really appreciate some help.
Over the last two years I have gone round and round in a spiral of testing for HIV.
I've had about 4 Duos, 3 Insti tests and, most recently an RNA PCR test.
ALL results have been negative. This all began because I've had a certain dulling of sensation in my hands and feet over the last 8 years which persists but gets no worse and naturally I managed to persuade myself it is the result of HIV.
I used to see escorts a lot but always used condoms for sex but not always for receiving oral.
The problem is every time I test negative I feel elated and finally free until I inevitably get back on the Internet and read about freak instances of people never producing antibodies or P24 etc...
So I really just need to hear it from you guys, who I greatly respect.
1. Am I right in thinking that Peripheral Neuropathy for 8 years and no other symptoms at all is very unlikely to be HIV related?
2. If it were due to HIV then surely viral load tests and antibody/P24 test would be positive
3.Is it possible under any circumstances to be antibody, P24 and Pcr test negative and yet still HIV positive?
4. Am I being a complete prat who needs to accept this as FACT ?( I think I know the answer to this one )
I'm sorry to waste your time but carrying this around with me is very distressing and hard.
Dr Alex
Thanks for your response and good advice.
Could I just press you to answer my questions ( simply for peace of mind ) and I'll do as you say and leave you guys alone?
1. Am I right in thinking that Peripheral Neuropathy for 8 years and no other symptoms at all is very unlikely to be HIV related? correct
2. If it were due to HIV then surely viral load tests and antibody/P24 test would be positivecorrect
3.Is it possible under any circumstances to be antibody, P24 and Pcr test negative and yet still HIV positive?yes - at the very very earliest stages of HIV infection at the very beginning - so perhaps at days 1 to 3 or so
4. Am I being a complete prat who needs to accept this as FACT ?( I think I know the answer to this one )well, we wouldn't call you a prat - you're clearly anxious about it - but the fact is that you have proved beyond any doubt that you do not have HIV.
