Default HIV / STD risks

Hello Freedomhealth, thought it might be easier if I do a timeline/bullet point of my exposures.

Mid 2007.
Had protected vaginal sex with a female escort. Penetration lasted about 10 minutes. Had allsorts of HIV symptoms between 2 – 8 weeks after, even though I used a condom. Also received oral without a condom. I did send the girl a message asking about HIV & STD’s and she said I’ve got nothing to worry about but I decided to test for HIV, STD & Hep B 5 weeks later at a gum clinic. All results where negative/clear of diseases. I presume the HIV test was a standard antibody test.

April 2008
Had protected sex and received oral sex from a female escort – both protected using a condom. We changed the condom after the oral and used a fresh one for the vaginal sex. Penetration lasted about 5 / 6 minutes. I asked the girl about STD’s and she said she was clear and gets tested every 8 weeks.

June 08
Protected sex and received oral sex from a female escort – both protected using a condom. Penetration lasted about 3 / 4 minutes.

September 08
Protected vaginal sex with a female escort. Penetration lasted about 5 / 6 minutes. Received oral without a condom, therefore went for get tested for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea 10 days later and none of theses showed up/negative.

January 09
Protected vaginal sex but received unprotected oral, again from a female escort. I asked the girl about STD’s and she said she was clear and gets tested once a month.

Basically I’ve always had vaginal sex, no anal sex, always used a condom for penetration, had a negative HIV in mid 2007 and had protected sex with 4 people since and I tested clear for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea after I received unprotected oral back in August 2008.

1) Should I test for STD’s regarding the oral I received in January? Haven’t had any symptoms of any STD so far.

2) Would you say my overall risk for HIV is low/zero?

You have a great site here! Why don’t you charge for it like medhelp.org?!!? Looks like you would make a killing!!

Thanks, Rob

Good Morning Rob, sorry re the delay - got rushed off our feet.

I've cut and pasted your question beneath - hope thats ok?

In any case a 3rd gen at 5 weeks will give an excellent result 95% plus

1) Should I test for STD’s regarding the oral I received in January? Haven’t had any symptoms of any STD so far. well, its a personal choice - using sex workers does increase the risk of an STD being transmitted - but I think the chances are miniscule and I would not want to encourage a culture where whenever you had sex you needed to have an STD test

2) Would you say my overall risk for HIV is low/zero?Zero

Thanks, Rob you're very welcome, cheers, Sean
