Default Do I need an HIV test?

I would be very grateful if you could give me advice on this? I met a girl at work and we made out and I performed cunnilingus on her for a couple of minutes but was careful not to swallow any fluids and used alot of salvia, I also hadnt brushed my teeth for about 5 hours and have very good oral health and she wasnt on her or around her period at the time. I dont think shes from a high risk group as shes native from the north of England and has 3 small children and has only had unprotected sex 3 times in her life. Do I need to test for HIV for this incident or can I stop stressing out about HIV?

WOuld really appreciate your help?

Default Do I need an HIV test

Hello,

Based on what you've said I would not advise an HIV test.

Cunninlingus, even on HIV positive women, is zero to minimal risk. Studies which have looked specifically at the question have failed to show any risk at all from this.

In addition, the chances of this lady being HIV positive are tiny.

I'm sure you will be fine. Best regards, Sean

Well after this happened new girlfriend (the same girl above) and I decided to go and get an HIV test done before we became anymore sexually active...I presumed she hadn't had sex since last year with her Ex but it turns out she had sex with him 6 weeks ago. We had sex and the condom split that very night and thats when I asked her in more detail when she last had sex with her Ex. We had the Rapid Anti-Body test done via a finger prick that very day. We were both negative.

Her Ex partner was tested Negative for HIV just over a year ago but he did had unprotected sex once with someone else just after he got tested negative. She has had sex with someone else but about 2 years ago. Basically since the condom split I wasnt worried untill she tells me she last had sex with her ex was 6 weeks ago!!! I presumed it was last year she never had lied about anything though. I have not been eating or sleeping since she told me that as I thought she was totally clean of HIV and Ive been paranoid I might have caught HIV from her now.

Dr Sean,

Based on this information what do you think my risk is? Do you think I would need to get tested? Thanks again

Hi, there!
I think it is highly unlikely that you have got infected. I think the best thing would be for your girlfriend to get a HIV Duo test now, as it is more than 4 weeks from the encounter with her ex. That will be conclusive.
Best wishes,
Jose
